Start Here

I have started this blog as a way to share my family history research with extended family on both my father's (Poth/Crane/Hoart/Cosgrove) and mother's (Sanford/Dailey/Brown/Fisher) sides.

Family - please email me with any corrections, additions, and most importantly, any memories or stories you'd like me to add to a particular person.  A few sentences or paragraph is great.  More is great too.  Photos welcome.   It is so important to capture details about our loved ones, while we can, from people who remember them.

I hope that eventually this will reach some folks in the younger generation who might be interested in geneology.

You can find all of the information I've gathered (sources, photos, etc) between the following  two sites.  Any information about living people is automatically kept private from public view.

1.  Ancestry dot com:  Cynthia Poth Nanto family tree.    This is the online version of my whole "filing cabinet" of information and includes an extended tree with great aunts and uncles, etc.   It is a public tree but you have to have an Ancestry membership to view it, and I'm currently the only person who can make edits.

2.  Family Search dot org:  This is a worldwide crowdsourced family tree.  It's free to join and a great resource.   However, anyone can make additions and changes anywhere, so mistakes and duplicates aren't uncommon.   Duplicates are much less likely when a profile is well documented with photos, sources, etc.

My brother David and I remember Grandma ML  singing this song from her childhood in rural West Virginia-

Pickin' up paw paws, puttin' em in the basket,
Pickin' up paw paws, puttin' em in the basket,
Pickin' up paw paws, puttin' em in the basket,
Way Down Yonder in the Paw Paw Patch

Let's collect stories of our ancestors like paw paws in our baskets.... filled to overflowing.
